Lives up to the Hype and Then Some!
I have put off this review until I had ample time to reach my decision. First off, I appreciate speedy shipping for my late night shopping splurges. The sooner an impluse purchase arrives the less time I have to feel guilty and return it. So, Thank goodness my Matte and Smokey palettes arrived before I could guilt myself into a return, because I can't even imagine life Post-Palette lol. Karity's no-nonsence packaing helped solidify the legitamacy of the product as well. In the past I have spent money on the adorable packaging and not necessarily for the makeups payoff or formula. The design seems simple, neat and deliberate. No fluff here, just great quality make-up. Shipping and packaging 5/5! Guilt-Free formula is a must for me. I apperciate their thoughtful sourcing. The vegan and cruilty free status are important to me. The formula is 100% buttery, blendable perfection. All shades in this palette are incredible. Pack it on for the build-up equiviant to Bohemian Rhapsody's breakdown. Or blend it out into such nothingness, you'll get existential as all **** in your vanity mirror.. Formula 5/5 My bottomline or TL;DR is as following. 5/5 Overall, Go Buy this.. The only negative I have is that I didn't buy the Frost along with my Matte and Smokey palette. If you have $80 to drop on a Viseart Bright Editorials palette then by all means spend almost 3x as much on practically half the product you get with Karity's Smokey Palette.But I advise you get on the newsletter list to recieve updates on their restock (they sellout quickly) and just commit. Will (Should) you use yellow eyeshadow everyday? Probably not. BUT You Can! This pallete in unbelievably veristile. It' reach is only bound by your imagination. Enjoy. Looks good on dark skin
The pigmentation on these is really good. I have dark skin (like Mac NW45) and most of the colors showed up well on my skin without a eyeshadow base. With a white eyeshadow base, the colors pop even more although the shimmery and jewel-like tones look great alone too. The golden yellow color ("Radioactive" I think it's called) surprisingly looked a bit chalky/ashy on my skin tone, but other than that the colors were pretty much what they look like in the palette. I did an (amateur) swatch on my arm with each color by itself and also with the eyeshadow base below.
Good quality makeup.
I discovered this product a year ago when I bought the Matte pallete on sale. This is a very good quality product. The makeup is smooth, easy to apply and very pigmented for the price. I highly recommend if you're starting out with makeup and want to practice and experiment with different colors... but perhaps lack the funds for some of the high-end products. So far I have the Smokey and Matte palletes, and the blush/bronzer pallete. The eyeshadows are highly colorful so a little goes a very long way, and if you use a good primer it will last alllllll day and then some. They cause no skin or eye irritation on me and there is no noticeable odor. I'm considering buying the frost pallete just for funsies... though I don't actually need it. The matte/smokey sets can be used to achieve the same effects.
Amazing for the price! Will use this more than I use a lot of my more expensive palettes.
The Good: a really nice variety of colors and textures with matte and shimmer being represented well, buildable colors that blend easily, not a ton of fallout (my Urban Decay shadows have more fallout!), I like that it doesn't have a mirror. I don't need it to and it's one less thing to worry about when traveling. The Less Good: I just wish it had a mid-tone shade that could be used in the crease. There really isn't a good crease transition shade, meaning it isn't a stand alone palette for me, that can be used without the addition of other products. I do suggest using a good primer though. Depending on which I use, I do get some slight fading towards the 6-8 hour mark. Overall I am pretty surprised and impressed by this palette and I can see myself adding more of them to my collection.
Very pigmented, good variety
The dark magenta color on the bottom row stains my skin (I'm pale), but all the other colors are great and very silky. Application with fingers produces the best results for me.
